Social Media Marketing, What To Expect

What to Expect from Social Media Marketing Services?

Joining the world of social media marketing services is a lot like joining a gym. You sign up, you set goals for yourself, you make a plan to achieve them, you stick to the plan, and you start to see those blessed results. You make tweaks to your plan to make sure you’re always growing. Before you know it, you’re signing up for hot yoga, chugging collagen protein shakes, and shelling out a few bucks for a personal trainer to yell at you about your form. All of this in good time. First things first: start at the beginning.

Social Media Marketing Services: Decide

Imagine what you want for your business. Think in terms of outcomes first. To use our gym analogy, maybe your goal is “to get ripped.” Stick with broad goals during this step. And be really honest. What do you want? Here are some examples of things I hear clients say at this stage:

  • I want to be the elite business in the area for what I do
  • I want to branch out and get a new market share
  • I want to be known as having great customer service

These are just ideas. You have your own business goals. And if you don’t, go ahead and think big.

Social Media Marketing Services: Brainstorm

Once you’ve identified your overarching goal, use it as the guiding principle as you look to social media opportunities. This is a brainstorming exercise. Don’t decide anything yet. Just think about which outlets could help you reach your goals. (So, if your goal is to get ripped, you’ll want to lift weights, do squats, lunges, crunches.) Narrow in on the particulars and list as many ideas as you can:

  • Build a Google+ community then host monthly hangouts
  • Get customers to like my Facebook page
  • Become an expert online with regular blogging

We’re only limited by our imagination. If you’re intimidated by platforms like Reddit or Tumblr, don’t let that get in the way of the possibilities. You might find that, in order to reach your particular goals, you’ll need to try something you never thought you would. Be free with the brainstorming process to decide what exactly you want for your business.

Don’t worry about the “how” in this step, just look at all of the possibilities.

Social Media Marketing Services: Analyze

Now that you’ve got an overarching principle and a list of ideas, it’s time to hone in on what will really be effective. Say your guiding principle is to be a well-known expert. And you’re in the MedSpa business. Dig deeper into this goal. You want to be a well-known expert to what end? You narrow your goal to this:

To instill trust in my practice to increase word-of-mouth business with my primary target of women between 45 and 60.

Now, all you need to do is apply a little analysis to this goal. In terms of fitness you’ve got “get ripped, lift weights.” But what kind of weights? Do a little research into lifting programs and free weights vs. machines. For your social media marketing plan, research where your primary target goes online.

  • Send out a survey or just do a little research on your demographic
  • Make an educated guess
  • Ask your existing customers where they hang out online

Then tell your clients about your plans. Most people are willing to offer their support if asked. (This works with lifting plans, too. There’s no shortage of advice out there.)

Social Media Marketing Services: Plan

Take a hard look at the sort of effort you want to put into reaching your goals. Time is always the trade-off for getting what you want when it comes to social media marketing (and fitness gains). So, look at your analysis and your time and come up with a plan.

First, you need to take care of the practicalities (get a gym membership, get some good shoes, get lifting gloves). For our MedSpa owner who want to be an expert, she needs a few things like:

  1. A website with a blog function
  2. A newsletter sign-up to alert readers to new posts
  3. Facebook and Twitter accounts to link followers to blog posts

Then, make an actual schedule. It doesn’t have to be crazy, although it can be. But let’s start slow so you don’t burn out (maybe do the 5×5 weight lifting program for a while) and also:

  • Post one blog per week and publish it every Sunday night
  • Introduce one time-sensitive incentive on a monthly basis
  • Offer to blog for credible websites once a month
  • Put in a half an hour a day to engage online through social media

Start with something you know you can accomplish and stick with it. You’d be surprised what small, consistent effort can bring.

Social Media Marketing Services: Grow

Make new goals as you progress and don’t be afraid to try something new (5k? 10k? 20k?). Make sure to stay on top of the latest trends for how people engage online (is Keto still a thing?). Grow, shift, progress. Once you start to see some growth, you’ll probably want to up your game and bring on a professional (personal trainer? Nutritionist?). No matter where you are in your journey, Social Media Marketing Services professionals can instantly hop on and work with you to create and reach new goals.
